Join us for our 6th annual March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence!
Take a stand against violence in our community! Sign up to Walk a Mile
- If you’d prefer to use a paper registration form, download the registration form here. (One half will look upside down because it’s designed to be folded).
- Registration is free, but almost all walkers raise funds to keep our doors open. The money you raise supports survivors of domestic and sexual violence throughout Berkshire County. Raise $55 or more and get a NEW 2016 Walk a Mile t-shirt.
- Shoes and signs available at the Walk. Come early to get the best shoes!

Why we Walk a Mile
Violence affects us all…our children, our friends, our neighbors, our coworkers, our community, our future. Come add your voice (and your feet) to those calling for change. Together we are making a difference! EFC depends on these much-needed funds. Let’s make 2016 the best Walk a Mile yet!
Walkers’ stories

“The guys that I’ve had the pleasure of walking with in the 9 Walk a Mile events I’ve done, all walk for a different reasons but all in the same display of support. I walk because I can, and during that walk, my feet are my voice.
I am man enough to walk the walk. Doesn’t matter if they’re red or black pumps, or open toed with a bow on them, the importance is much greater. The short period of time that my feet feel the pain is my personal pledge that the women in my life never have to feel a worst pain.”

“I’m doing Walk a Mile in Her Shoes because all the proceeds will go to Elizabeth Freeman Center to help survivors of abuse. At least there is hope and voice for these women unlike my sister or Sabrina who had no place to turn to and suffered in silence…….”

“I participate in Walk a Mile because it is such an incredible opportunity to show the public that the movement to end domestic and sexual violence is powerful and vibrant.
Walking with EFC’s Team Rainbow was especially incredible because it was a chance to educate and shine a light on a group [LGBTQ survivors] that can be overlooked in these discussions. I will be walking again this year to keep the momentum going with positive action!”

“I walk because, as a son, as a husband, and as a father, I recoil in recognizing that gender inequality, domestic violence, and gender-based discrimination remain unconscionably common threats not only to the women in my life, but to women worldwide. I walk to demonstrate… that…men of character value women as equals, acknowledge the gender-based threats that they face, and are willing not only to walk a mile in their shoes, but to take a stand and, indeed, to do whatever is necessary to help create a world of nonviolence, of peace, and of equality for all people.”
